After visiting nine countries in the Middle East and Africa, the Red Bull Car Park Drift 2014 will come to an end during the Regional Finals today in Dubai. The adrenaline-filled event will be part of the Dubai Motor Festival 2014 and is set to take place at the Meydan Hotel parking.
Sixteen drivers will go head to head with their eyes on the ‘King of Drift’ title. The participants hail from UAE, KSA, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Mauritius and earned their spots in the Grand Final after topping their national qualifiers.
During the competition, the drifters will be judged according to a set of six criteria. 40 per cent of the mark is allocated to drifting skills, while proximity to the clipping point, and car look and design will each give the driver 15 percent of the mark. Tire smoke, car sound, and performance in the ‘Box’, a tight enclosure the drifters need to do a ‘donut’ in, each contribute 10 percent towards the total score.
