AMA: Hall of Fame Saddened by Passing of Carroll Resweber

AMA Press Release:

The American Motorcyclist Association offers its sincere condolences to the friends and family of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Carroll Resweber, who passed away on May 8, 2015, at the age of 79.

Resweber, a member of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 1998, was a brilliant young racer who won four consecutive AMA Grand National Championships from 1958 to 1961 — a record that stood for four decades.

A true star of motorcycle racing, Resweber demonstrated enormous skill on a range of tracks, including half-miles, miles and road courses. He won 19 AMA nationals in a span of six seasons on a variety of circuits. Resweber’s career was cut short in its prime due to a racing accident in 1962.

After his recovery, Resweber returned to work for Harley-Davidson, where he stayed until he retired in 1992.
