KTM Racing Press Release:
Factory FMF/KTM rider Taylor Robert earned 2nd overall to mark his third time on the podium this season at the seventh round of the AMA EnduroCross Series. His teammate, Red Bull KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak, finished just shy of the podium in 4th place.
It was Blazusiak who was placed in the first heat of the evening. The polish rider started in 2nd position and remained there until lap three when he took over the lead after Mike Brown crashed. Cody Webb was able to make a pass around Blazusiak when he got caught in the fire pit and went on to win the first heat while Blazusiak finished 2nd to qualify to the main event.
Robert was in heat number two. Robert, fresh off a win at the previous EnduroCross race, had a spectacular start and earned the hole-shot and went on to lead the first lap. He continued to stretch his lead for the remainder of the race to take the win by 15 seconds.
In the main event, Robert got another decent jump and was sitting in 3rd around the first corner. Blazusiak wasn’t as fortunate and suffered a crash in the first corner which caused him to recover in nearly last position.
Robert moved to 2nd place on the next lap after the leader crashed while Blazusiak continued to chip away on the riders in the back of the pack. By the fifth lap Blazusiak had passed into 4th place and remained approximately 12 seconds back from the lead group. During this same timeframe, Robert began to battle Colton Haaker for the runner-up position. The two rider’s swapped positions a few times before Robert would make it stick after Haaker suffered an issue in the fire pit on the final lap. Webb would end up winning the round while Robert finished 2nd followed by Haaker and Blazusiak.
“I had a lot of fun on this course tonight,” stated Robert after the race. “It was good to be battling so closely with a few riders. We only have one more round left, but I am ready to prove I have what it takes to consistently win.”
