Here's All You Need To Know About The 2017 Ford Edge!

You’ve probably noticed some Ads going around lately for the 2017 Ford Edge, if you’ve got the money and you’re currently looking for a large reliable 4x4, there’s a chance you’re considering the Ford Edge.

For starters, you might want to know that the Ford Edge lastly got a major facelift in mid-2015 and it kept the same handsome face until today. It should presumably get some minor face-lifting sometime around 2019 or 2020 so if you buy it now, you still have a couple of years to spare.

The Ford Edge is a family-sized SUV that sits right above the Ecosport in the ford range. When it comes to classifying the Edge, it’s probably one of the hardest models to contain in a specific segment.

You would intuitively compare it to the Hyundai Santa Fe or the Honda CRV in size but when you take a closer look at the price tag and options available on this model, you will realize that it’s more likely to compete with the Audi Q5, Mazda CX-5, the BMW X3 andMercedes-Benz GLCeven though they are a little smaller in size.

The Ford Edge is offered in two engine sizes on the Lebanese market:

This trim is priced at $49,500 including VAT (approx. $52,900 with Reg)

This trim is priced at $63,800 including VAT (approx. $68,300 with Reg)

Here’s adetailed comparison between the SEL and Sport trims:

It’s true that the $16,000 gap between both trims can be kind of shocking but the Sportmodel gives you a completely different look and feel!

The Sport trim comes with a black panoramic roof, 21inch dark painted rims (vs. 18inch on the SEL trim),  a slightly more extended nose that brings it closer to the ground and a black radiator grille for that extra sporty look. Some dual rectangular exhaust pipes and additional equipment are included as well.

If you decide to settle for the SELmodel you can still get some exciting standard equipment on your Edge: Shift paddles, power front seats, leather interior, multifunction steering wheel, voice recognition, LCD touch screen…

The Sport trim on the other hand is equipped with front and rear parking sensors, front and rear cameras, parallel park assist and the Ford perpendicular park assist which is a pretty impressive feature as well.

What are the highlights?

  • All in all the Ford Edge is known to be a very practical and confortable family-sized SUV. Its size is very convenient and it includes rich safety aids and equipment.

  • The Edge also comes with Active Noise Control which reduces cabin noise and does not transmit any vibrations or suspension noise to guarantee a relaxing ride.

What’s the drawback?

  • The handling, visibility and infotainment system are considered to be dull compared to its rivals within the same price bracket.
